Nineteenth Century Dress: furbiloes, frills & fancies

From the mid-nineteenth century women's fashions saw an exuberant use of textiles in their skirts, sleeves, trimmings and outer garments. Our study day explores these changes to the end of the century, through an indepth talk, followed by the study of fabric samples from the period. After lunch there follows a short talk on Victorian textile manufacture and a further detailed study session with original dress examples of the period.
