SUMMER SHORT COURSE

Speaker: Mary Schoeser

Wednesday 25th April
Wednesday 30th May

7:00pm – 8:30pm

£54

Join us for a series of three 90-minute talk-and-sample sessions exploring the radical developments in pattern design and techniques that characterise the first three decades of the 20th century. In the second of our short courses, we explore a range of expressions of Modernism in the Western World against the continued importance of craft production. Discover the unique qualities of key firms and designers through a look at:

Wednesday 25th April 2018 - An exploration of Modernist groups and schools – such as the Futurists, Constructivists and the Bauhaus – and their wider influence on textiles in Europe and America.

Wednesday 30th May 2018 -  An in-depth study of Marion Dorn, Barron and Larcher, and Enid Marx, mid-century designers whose textiles include hand prints, weaves, rugs and moquettes.

Wednesday 27th June 2018 - A broad survey covering the past 120 years, exploring why Scandinavian textiles became so influential worldwide in the mid-20th century.

Ticket entitles one person into all three events on the Summer Short Course.
